The modular structure of our training enables you to book courses one at a time as you acquire new staff or as existing staff need refreshers, or we can structure groups of courses to form a day of more intensive training.

3 hrs Aims to increase awareness, and how to manage alcoholic clients
3 hrs Statistics, Definition, Classification, Risk Factors, Potential signs for common Cancers e.g. breast, prostate, bowel, lung & skin cancer, Staging of cancers, Main treatment options
URINARY CATHETERISATION: MALE & FEMALE
3 hrs The indications for urinary catheterisation, appropriate catheter type & size, understand the risks associated with the catheterisation procedure
3 hrs Statistics, Definition, Signs & Symptoms, Risk Factors, Types, Challenging Behaviour, Prognosis
3 hrs Enables staff to understand the process of supervision and its advantages for both staff and patients
4 hrs Increases knowledge of incontinence and ways of promoting continence anatomy & physiology of the urinary and bowel systems, social effects of incontinence, continence equipment Urinary tract infections, catheter & stoma procedures (opt, extra ½ hr)
3 hrs or 4hrs with blood monitoring & Insulin administration Increase awareness of Diabetes Mellitus, its effects and its impact on the client, the effects, signs and symptoms, treatment, associated Conditions & complications. Also includes Foot Care Advice / Emergency actions
END OF LIFE/CARE OF THE DYING
3 hrs Aims to give the care worker more confidence and knowledge when caring for the dying client
EPILEPSY & ADMINISTERING RECTAL DIAZEPAM and/or BUCCAL MIDAZOLAM
3 hrs Improve the understanding of Epilepsy, triggers and types of Fits, management of Seizures plus optional training on administering Rectal Diazepam and/or Buccal Midazolam.
FOOT & NAIL CARE
2 hrs Promote health and quality of life by providing safe care of client’s feet and toenails, a look at function & structure, disorders and diseases, and care and common treatments (does not include training for nail cutting)
GASTROSTOMY TUBE (PEG)
3 hrs Increase knowledge of PEGs, how and when they are used, maintenance, administering medicines/food.
3 hrs Definition, Prevalence, Risk Factors, Complications, Prognosis, Assessment, History taking & Examination, Investigations, Management & dressings & bandages
LONE WORKER SAFETY
3 hrs How to identify hazards when working alone and take appropriate action. Includes Lone Workers and the Law, identifying risks and hazards both in client’s homes and when on the move, communication links, and a look at personal safety items.
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS/ MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE/ PARKINSONS/ ME/CEREBRAL PALSY
3 hours (each) Gain a better understanding of the care of clients with these conditions definition of the illness, causes, signs and symptoms, treatments and care.
NEBULISER THERAPY & CARE
To gain knowledge, insight and confidence when caring for a person who requires nebuliser therapy
3 hrs To enable staff to carry out oro/naso pharyngeal suctioning safely and effectively. Discuss What is it? Anatomy and physiology of the mouth, nose and pharynx. Indications for suctioning. The care and use of equipment The procedures Complications
3 hrs Increase knowledge of oxygen therapy, how and when it is used, maintenance.
PRESSURE AREA CARE
3 hrs Essential knowledge on detection, care, treatment & prevention of pressure sores.
SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS
3 hrs Why people slip, trip & fall, how to prevent it. Risks at home and in the community, Assessment Clinics and rehabilitation, how to encourage their participation in prevention strategies.
3 hrs Essential information on care of the skin, preventing damage, wound care, different skin conditions and how to look after them
3 hrs. Increase skills in caring for a client with a CVA, including causes, signs & symptoms treatment and care, and a look at complications.
3 hrs The use of, insertion, suction, care and maintenance of equipment, and care of the client
UNDERSTANDING LEARNING DIFFICULTIES
3 hrs a look at types of learning difficulties (eg ADD/ADHD, Downs’ Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum disorders, Klinefelters’ and Prader-Willi syndromes), symptoms, methods of diagnosis, possible treatments and approaches to care and support.
